I was 19 when I was first introduced to (Hatha) yoga. My practice was mainly focused on the physical body. That changed when I got a burnout in my early 20s, which made me more interested in the inner world. That brought me into contact with Buddhism, meditation and self-examination. Meanwhile, Iyengar's practice brought me back to the yoga mat again, but it wasn't until I discovered Vinyasa that I was inspired to start teaching. Gradually my interest in the more still form of Yin yoga grew, because although I am a very active person by nature, I experienced how beneficial the combination of yin and yang yoga is for body and mind; especially in today's busy life. I therefore invite my students in my Yin classes to slow down and look inward, while in my Vinyasa classes (more of a dynamic form of yoga) I combine postures with breath and movement into a flow to the rhythm of carefully composed music, in which effort, focus and challenge lead students to relaxation.
And whether I teach Vinyasa, Yin or a Yin Yang, my wish is that through the practice every student comes into better contact with themselves and their deeper nature in this world full of continuous distractions. I look forward to welcoming you to the mat!
