In 2012 I opened my first Thrive Yoga studio in A'dam Zeeburg and in mid-2013 a second studio on IJburg and in January 2016 a beautiful third studio in the Indische buurt. Thrive and Yoga are more than ever an essential part of my life, the philosophy forms an important personal basis and I am happy to share the Yoga in my classes. In a yoga class you can expect an active Vinyasa Flow, interspersed with deep relaxation in Yin poses. Inspired by Jivamukti Yoga and Yin Yoga Asana (Postures), Meditation, Philosophy, Music and Breathing are the mainstays of my classes. But what I especially have to offer is my full attention and enthusiasm, which I love to share with every lesson.
In 2005 I first came into contact with yoga. I had a busy job as a naval officer at the time and was looking for relaxation and a way to reduce my lower back pain. In 2008 I graduated from the University of Nyenrode and started working as a manager in government and business. Over the past 10 years I discovered, step by step, what a meaningful way of life yoga is. That made me decide in 2012 to stop my current career in business and focus entirely on Yoga.
I am now a broadly trained (more than 1,100 hours) certified teacher in different styles. In addition to my initial Vinyasa Yoga training at Svaha Yoga (Patrick Vermeulen and Gosta van Dam (500 hours)) I have practiced different yoga styles in the Netherlands, India and Indonesia (Bali) and followed the Yin Yoga Training at Yoga Garden (Anat Geiger (200 hours)) and at the source of Yin Yoga 'Paul Grilley' (100 hr US). Perhaps my greatest inspiration comes from the Jivamukti Yoga style, where I followed my Jivamukti Yoga (300 hours) training in India with Sharon Gannon, David Life, Jules Febre and Lady Ruth.
I see yoga in our busy Western lives as a wonderful tool to improve the quality of yourself. Yoga has given me a strong impulse in the way in which I could show strong and people-oriented leadership in my career. Yoga has also shaped me into who I am as a person today. For me yoga is the basis for a happy, harmonious and successful life, which I wish everyone else!
